TEHRAN – A film on Raisali Delvari (1882-1915), the national hero who resisted against the invasion of British troops in southern Iran, grabbed three Golden Butterflies including the best film award at the 29th International Film Festival for Young Adults in Hamedan.

“Pinocchio, Amu Sardar and Raisali” by director Reza Safi tells the story of the young adult Homayun who begins to carry on a research work on the national hero to win the best memory writing award at school.

The film also brought the best screenplay award for Reza Safi and Maryam Ranjbar and the best artistic and technical achievements award for Javad Ramezani in the national competition section, organizers announced.

The award-giving ceremony took place in Hamedan on Wednesday was attended by large number of officials and cineastes.

“Soyuq” (Cold) by directors Bahram and Bahman Haj Abollu won the Golden Butterfly for best director, while it also won two more awards including the special jury award and the best actress award went to Nasrin Moradi.

Moreover, the jury panel of the young adults presented the Golden Butterfly for best film to “The Sea and Flying Bird” by Mehrdad Ghaffarzadeh.

Winners of the international section were also honored at the closing ceremony.

Iran’s “Gamichi”, a film by Javad Qolizadeh on Lake Urmia and its environmental crisis, won the best film and the best director awards in the international section.

In addition, the jury panel handed the CIFEJ (the Centre International du Film pours l'Enfance et la Jeuneusse) Award to “Gamichi”.

“The Boy and the World” (O menino e o mundo) by producers Fernanda Carvalho and Tita Tessler from Brazil won the Golden Butterfly for best feature film.

The best short film award went to “Cold Water” by Jalal Saedpanah from Iran.

“Bear Story” a short animation film by Gabriel Osorio from Chile won the best short film award.

This year organizers added the first Olympiad of Filmmaking for Young Adults, in which several young talented filmmakers were honored and received some honorary diplomas.

“Selfie” (Reyhaneh Hassnapur), “Feeling” by Kianush Gholami, and “Late” by Fatemeh Hosseinifar were among the films which were presented with honorary diplomas in this section.

The festival was held in Hamedan from September 26 to 30.
